ווב 2.0 and בלוג
So now you know how to write blog and web2.0 in Hebrew.
Israel is a major player in the hi-tech industry. Several Israeli ventures are listed on Nasdaq and digital entrepreneurship has been a fixture of the local economy for many years now.
Now, when it comes to online news, the Israeli market suffers from having too easy an audience (and from a form of industrial ownership which favors influence over profits). With several million Diaspora Jews flocking to Israeli websites, they own a much segmented and generally solvent public. Little pressure has been put on Israeli editors to come up with competitive innovations.
Nevertheless, they sometimes are at the forefront of web2.0ism, especially the English-language Jerusalem Post, one of the first website to introduce comments.
I’m way too lazy to read blogs in Hebrew, but widespread knowledge of the English language and close ties to NY, LA and London are such that one doesn’t need to decipher the language to know what’s going on in Tel-Aviv. Here’s a selection of the Israeli blogs I follow:
- Ouriel Ohayon. One of the most influent Israeli blogger, mostly about 2.0 matters.
- Israel Venture Capital 2.0, by Daniel Cohen. The name makes it pretty obvious, though Daniel’s based in the US.
- BizDevBlog, by Eran Lagon. Mostly about new business development.
- Connected, by Niv Calderon. Niv’s a news photographer and blogger. This blog launched two months ago so it’s hard to assess it just now.
- Go2Web2, by Orli Yakuel. Updates on 2.0 startups, TechCrunch-like, with an emphasis on social networks.
